@doTERRA

The company that I’ve chosen for this assignment is doTERRA.  The company is based in Pleasant Grove, Utah and was founded in 2008.  doTERRA sells therapeutic grade essential oils that are “used for a wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications,” or in other words aromatherapy (https://www.doterra.com/US/en/what-is-an-essential-oil).

In reviewing the tweets on Twitter @doTERRA  for the month of May, the company wished all moms a Happy Mother’s Day and provided information on how to use their products to make a gift for mom.  They also have a short advertisement showing how their employees help out those in the community by demonstrating their products on customers.  The company also joined forces with an organization @3strands_Global to prevent human trafficking #EndTrafficking.  They also have the Co-Founder of doTERRA Emily Wright who is stated to have made a Global Impact @forbes.  Lastly, there is information about how the company sources their essential oils and the communal relationship that they share with their growers.

The company is also on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/doterra/
Their Facebook page opens up to video showing customers using their products.  Here they have information about the: company, mission statement, products, photos, videos, customer reviews and many YouTube advertisements.  I would say Facebook is where their base is, a place where their products can be explored and shared by many.

The company is also on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/doterra/?hl=en
Instagram is a tool that allows the company to post ways that their products can be used.  In addition, customers are able to interact with associates from doTERRA in asking specific questions regarding the products and other customers are able to comment and respond to each other.  They are able to post their “Likes” as well.  Instagram seems to serve as a big “Chat room” for the company and customers alike.

After reviewing  doTERRA’s social media campaign I do feel more likely to purchase the product/service.  I really like how the company provides a ton of information on the effectiveness of their products, where they source their products and how it benefits their partners.  In addition, I enjoy reading the posts of other customers who rave about the products and the information that is provided by company associates in how to use the essential oils in additional ways.  I feel this provides transparency and shows how the company appreciates their customers and wants to engage/form a relationship with them.   I also think the company is up to par with regards to effectively using social media to reach their audience. They are using a variety of platforms to reach their audience and each social media tool is well-established and informative as well as engaging and fun! Furthermore, I feel their target market is women, specifically married women with families since a lot of their advertisements feature kids using the products alongside their parents.
